changes.

The house is quiet.  My babies are all napping so I’m taking full advantage.  I’m finally writing a blog to start catching everyone up on our family (and maybe eating a few Oreos J)…
Cohen had his 4 month check up, which had to be rescheduled so many times you could almost call it a 5 month check up.  He’s up to 26 ½ inches, 16 lbs. 7 oz. That puts him around the 75th percentile for both height and weight.  He’s also officially less of a drama queen than Addy (as if there was ever any question).  It didn’t even take 15 seconds after his shots for him to start grinning at the nurse.  In the last few weeks he has mastered rolling over.  He can’t be on the floor without rolling and scooting all over the place.  He’s started really laughing.  He’s found his little voice and he’s not afraid to use it.  I absolutely love his little screeches and babble and so does Addy.  I’ve noticed even more interaction between them now that he’s more verbally responsive (and according to her, he’s saying “Addy” most of the time).  It seems like he’s constantly looking at her with a mixture of curiosity and admiration.  She’s started telling me what toy he needs and getting it for him.  You would be surprised at how often she appears to be right.  It makes me emotional to think about what their relationship will be like in the future - a bond that I, as an only child, never got to experience.  Someone with a common history, a playmate for life…

Brother also got to have his first taste of real food…rice cereal!  Apparently we should have started it sooner.  He was ready.  He opened his mouth like a little bird for the very first spoonful.  He wanted to hold the spoon (his hand-eye coordination is getting pretty darn good…must have come from Jason).  He couldn’t get enough.  I can’t wait to see what he thinks of his first fruits and veggies!

Sorry, the lighting isn't great in our kitchen.  Guess who he's looking at in the last two photos...Sister, of course!  That's the look, the you're-so-crazy-cool look.

The change of the season is upon us too.  We’ve thrown out the pumpkins and started to think about Christmas gifts and decorations.  I’ll have pink-stained fingers from stringing cranberries in no time.  We’re taking more time on the weekends to hibernate…enjoying our fireplace and homemade soup Sundays…

I also can’t stop burning my Clove-n-Cinnamon Scentsy bricks.  They smell like the holidays.  I’m almost out of some of my favorites so rather than wait for someone else to host a party, I decided to host a book party.  The party “closes” December 4th.  This is my first time ever hosting any of these product-party-things, so I’m pretty excited about it.  If you’re interested/ curious, I have catalogs and a bag of all the scents (more than you want to take the time to smell - believe me).  If you aren’t going to be seeing me anytime soon, you can check it out online here.  I can place the order and deliver it to you or you’re more than welcome to order on-line under my party (if you have it shipped directly to you, you have to pay for shipping).  I hate to sound like a cheeseball, Scentsy-pusher, but these things make pretty great Christmas gifts.   It’s seriously addicting!
On top of all of this and the other projects we’re in the middle of at home, I’ve also been fortunate enough to have exciting changes happening at work.  I interviewed for and accepted a Financial Analyst position at Deere’s Global Crop Harvesting Product Development Center in Silvis.  For anyone curious, I will be “responsible for conducting discounted cash flow analysis, preparing Category 1 AFE’s and Phase Updates for management, tracking costs for new product rep machines, and providing financial counsel to the product development teams.”  I’m excited to be getting into a more analytical position that will bring me closer to Deere products (getting away from accounting month end for a while won’t be so bad either)!

I hope you’re having one of those Sundays that reminds you exactly why home is such a wonderful place to be.  Love.
